100 people to attend special evening in Huddersfield to honour our armed forces

A special remembrance service to honour our veteran people in the British Armed Forces will be hosted by The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Huddersfield tomorrow (Sat) evening with more than 100 people attending. The Remembrance and Volunteer Appreciation evening will be held at 5pm at the Hudawii Cultural Centre. A spokesman said: “This is a remembrance service to honour our veteran people in the Armed forces that provided their services to defend our freedom and the immense contributions made by the Indian sub-continent soldiers during the war.

“We will have representation from the Lord Lieutenancy office, Royal British Legion, Armed Forces Veterans, Interfaith leaders, Kirklees Council senior executives and local community members. We aim to unite across all faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces Community from all over the world who stood shoulder to shoulder with British Forces.”We will also be appreciating the services of our local volunteers that raised money during the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal this year.

“In addition we will be appreciating the services of the volunteers that contributed in raising money throughout the recent poppy appeal collection organised by the Royal British Legion in Huddersfield and the North East Region.Munir Ahmed from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Huddersfield Branch added: “We are committed to swerving humanity and focused on our fundraising efforts throughout the year for hundreds of UK-based charities.”One of the highlights of the year is the annual poppy campaigning which our volunteers take an active part this time of the year. It’s a wonderful opportunity to help those who served their country so that we may live in peace and , furthermore it is an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives during the wars.”
