A group of Sheffield youths started the new year helping to clean up a city suburb top make a difference in their community.

Members of the Sheffield branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) joined the Clean Sheffield Co-operative to pick up litter from the streets.

It formed part of AMYA’a ‘Muslims for Humanity’ work, which has also seen its members visiting Sheffieled Children’s Hospital and a residential home in the city over the Christmas period to spread some seasonal joy.

AMYA Youth Leadewr, Shahzad Ahmad, said, “Cleanliness is an integral part of our faith. Giving up a couple of hours can make a huge difference.

“As the world rejoiced in new year activities, youth from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association celebrated by praying to their Lord for a successful 2014 and to bless them with a prosperous 2015 so that they can contribute and serve their local communities.

Jason Colley, of the Clean Shirecliffe Co-operative, said: “It is great to work with AMYA group that are more committed to making the world a better place for everyone to live in, than any other religious group that I have met.
