Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association cleaning City Park TODAY
MEMBERS of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) are calling on communities across Bradford to join them on New Year’s Day in a street cleaning initiative at City Park. Equipped with brushes, bin bags, litter-picking sticks and high-vis jackets, AMYA members will be spending the New Year’s morning tidying up Bradford’s City Park, as well as city and town centres across the country. The initiative has now become an annual tradition for Young Muslims of Britain’s largest organised Muslim Community.
Adnan Virk, Regional Youth Leader of AMYA North East, said: “Littering costs the UK an estimated £660 million a year. While the Government and Local Authorities are doing a great deal to address this issue, we feel strongly that it is our religious and civic duty to also act. “From a religious perspective, both cleanliness and looking after our local communities is an essential part of the Islamic faith. “With this in mind, our members will be kicking off 2023 with a nationwide street cleaning day. “We invite members from the local communities to join us and help us with keeping Britain tidy.”
