Campaign against religious hatred launched following Shah murder

A multi-faith campaign against religious hatred has been launched after the death of the Glasgow shopkeeper Asad Shah.

The “love for all, hatred for none” campaign is being backed by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community that Mr Shah belonged to, as well as Christian, Jewish and Sikh groups.

Mr Shah, 40, died after an attack outside his Glasgow store last month. Tanveer Ahmed, 32, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, has appeared in court accused of his murder.

For two weeks, 100 buses across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee will carry banners bearing the message “United against extremism”, as well as the Ahmadiyya motto of love for all.

Abdul Abid, president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Scotland, said: “We want to reassure people and to discourage the extremists by showing solidarity”
