Donations and government grants are a vital lifeline

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) have donated £500 to Hamble Lifeboat Station one of Mayor Jane Welsh’s chosen charities. The AMC who say their motto is “love for all, hatred for none” raised the money during one of three ‘Charity Walks for Peace’ they held last year, which raised over £300,000 for UK charities.Mayor Jane Welsh was happy to receive the cheque on behalf of Hamble Lifeboat from Dr Rizwan Khan
.
Representing Hamble Lifeboat were James Godwin, and Brian Butcher.

Dr Khan said:
“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community have been fortunate to have raised millions of pounds for UK charities since the early 1980’s when we first begun to organise these Charity Walks.“It is also good to reach out to local smaller charities as these often get neglected, which why we wanted to also include The Mayors Charity.”Hamble Lifeboat has also had a share of £900,000 worth of government grants to water rescue services.Maritime Minister Robert Goodwill announced almost £25,000 will be going to station.

The minister said in a statement:
“This funding recognises the enormous efforts of voluntary rescue boat teams and their tireless work in providing 24/7 services during emergencies and extreme weather.”
