Slough Muslim Association celebrates 100 years

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association (AMWA) Slough, celebrated their Centenary last Saturday, October 8. The group, which was established in 1922, marked their 100 years by celebrating at Weekes Drive Community Centre in Slough. A turnout of 90 members of the women’s community and 20 guests took part in the celebrations, which consisted of two presentations and displays of art focused on women.

Presentations given to guests discussed the purpose of AMWA and their local Community Welfare and Support Initiative in Slough. The primary focus of the group is to prepare and provide meals for the homeless, raise funds for local charities, and support the local elderly and vulnerable. Over the past three years, the AMWA has donated over 8,000 food items to the vulnerable, including to Ukrainian refugees here and in Poland.

Rabia Amar, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association Slough, said: “The event was an exceptionally joyous day full of celebration and gratefulness to God for enabling us to mark this historic occasion.
