Tooting Ahmadiyya Muslims hold third Peace Conference

 

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Tooting held its third Peace Conference on 13th Oct 2017 to promote loyalty, freedom, respect and equality.

The theme of this year’s conference was “United Against Extremism” and “Pray for the World Peace” and was attended by Marsha de Cordova (Shadow Minister for Disabled People & MP for Battersea), Councillor Simon Hogg (Leader of Wandsworth Labour), Mrs Sunita Rai (President of the Tooting Hindu Society), Ven PM Bhatsakorn Piyobhaso (President of the Buddhapadipa Temple), Wandsworth PoliceRevd Dr Andrew Davey (Vicar St Augustine & Holy Trinity Church & Representative of BATCA), Councillor Marsie Skeete(Mayor of Merton) and many more faith leaders and Wandsworth councillors.

Speakers addressed various aspects of peace in society. MP Marsha de Cordova spoke on togetherness in communities  and how to organise and promote peace and harmony. Ahmadiyya Muslim Tooting President Shakeel Ahmed gave a brief introduction about the community and expressed the organisation’s gratitude to attendees for their work in the community. Imam Ata Ul Mujeeb Rashid of London Mosque spoke about on Islam’s teachings on neighbourhood, peace, tolerance and brotherhood.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Awards for 2017 were presented to emergency services including Wandsworth Police OfficersSt George’s staff and London Fire Brigade for their continued community support.
