Whitehill Town Council leader Andy Tree praises Bordon litter pickers

Bordon litter pickers, January 1st 2023.

The Muslim community in Whitehill & Bordon has been praised for carrying out an early-morning litter pick on January 1. Whitehill Town Council leader Cllr Andy Tree said: “Before Christmas I was approached by Adeel Shah of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, as they wanted to do a litter clear-up on New Year’s Day, to support our community.” After the litter pick Qasid Ahmad posted on Facebook: “Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Bordon got together at 6.15am on New Year’s Day and prayed for everyone.

“We then went to Lidl in Bordon and cleaned the surrounding streets. “It was incredibly difficult to find litter and credit goes to all the residents! “Happy new year.” Cllr Tree added: “I very much thank them for volunteering the time to do this. “And so have about 1,000 others judging by the number of ‘likes’ on their Facebook post. What fantastic community spirit.” Local Ahmadiyya Muslim Elder Association members also organise the annual Walk for Peace in Bordon that raised £20,000 for East Hampshire charities this year. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded in 1889 and promotes the Islamic teachings of peace, love, justice and the sanctity of life.
